CASE STUDY
Escape of water in loft
In January 2025 a church in Nottingham suffered an escape of water from a leaking pipe in the loft that caused damage to the walls and floor in the worship room and the crèche.

After being let down by another disaster restoration company the loss adjuster got in touch with us on 11th March and the TLC team launched into action, appointing Revival Sheffield to the claim.
The team at Revival Sheffield responded immediately, provided a substantial presence on site and within 24 hours we had a reassured customer.
By 16th March a full investigation had been carried out, TREVOR had been deployed and a predicted dry date of 5th April was communicated to all parties.
The challenges
The client had already been let down by another disaster restoration company so we had to act quickly and give the customer and the loss adjuster confidence in our abilities to manage a commercial claim quickly and efficiently.
The church needed to maintain use of their main space for worship at the weekend. The TLC and Revival teams understood what was required and made it clear to the customer that we would be able to restore the church and that services could continue.
The team quickly set up a targetted drying regime to ensure the church could be in use over the weekend whilst ensuring the site was being restored as quickly as possible, and safely.
They used a tented approach to dry the concrete slab and walls.

The works
The works included stripping out 20m² of plaster followed by the set up of a tented drying regime in the worship room and the crèche area.
The carpeting to the front of the worship room and the stage area needed to be removed. Normally the worship area would be out of use but Revival had a practical solution – they recommended rotating the worship seating 180° so that the area being dried could be cordoned off whilst the drying process was taking place. The customer agreed to this and the services continued as normal.

The wall in the crèche area needed scarifying and then tenting off for installation of drying equipment.
Revival’s sensible and pragmatic approach kept the church operating, kept costs down and delivered an efficient drying regime.
And, as promised by TREVOR, the property was dry by 5th April and the works were fully completed by 8th April.
Losses mitigated, practical solutions
This commercial claim had several complexities that the TLC and Revival teams managed superbly:
The church staff were delighted that they didn’t have to relocate and stop their operations and services.
The loss adjuster commented that the speedy response and decisive claim response ownership was a breath of fresh air, and the following day he appointed us on an additional claim.
The winning combination of TLC’s project managent skills, Revival Sheffield’s technical skills and TREVOR’s predicitve skills made sure that this commercial claim was a textbook example of how to keep customers happy whilst also controlling costs.
