Happy New Year
Happy New Year to all our clients, suppliers and staff. We hope 2022 is a prosperous, slightly calmer and more predictable year for us all! The end of 2021 was rather busy for many of us as Storms Arwen and Barra swept through the North East of the country, creating an unprecented number of claims in one specific part of the country. We would like to thank our fabulous surveyors, especially those who travelled from other areas to help out in the North East, and our amazing staff who worked overtime and helped out in all areas. It was a great team effort.
We start the new year with our quarterly awards for the three months ended 31st December 2021, and we also bring you news of a charitable event that we are involved in which will be the first of its kind in the UK.
MA Assist Supplier of the Quarter December 2021
The MA Assist Supplier of the Quarter for December 2021 is JD Marshall.
Throughout 2021 and, notably in the last quarter, the team at this 4 star building company have just quietly got on with things, producing excellent quality work with very few issues. They are reliable and supportive and should be recognised for that. Well done to everyone at JD Marshall.
Revival Branch of the Quarter December 2021
The Revival Branch of the Quarter ended December 2021 is Cumbria & North East.
This small but perfectly formed branch is all about quality over quantity – it is consistently a high performer, by whatever means we measure them. Nothing is ever too much trouble and during 2021 the team hasn’t hesitated to come to the group’s aid during Storm Arwen and the London floods. They have embraced the Technical Large & Complex project, providing Roy Benyon with excellent support on a large commercial claim in the Midlands.
Well done to Darren and the team in beautiful Cumbria.
Virtus Surveyor of the Quarter December 2021
The Virtus Surveyor of the Quarter for December 2021 is Robert Szulc.
Robert provided immediate and significant support for Storm Arwen and continues to do so. His reports are excellent and timely and his attitude has been positive throughout, with useful feedback on our processes and systems. He has demonstrated all the attributes of an effective and efficient network surveyor. Well done Robert.
Changes in the Surveying and Validation world
There have been a lot of changes in our industry over the past few months, lots of mergers and acquisitions financed by a very active private equity industry.
So it’s good to know that some businesses, like Virtus Validations, are still independent, privately owned and managed: still focussed on delivering excellent customer and client service, investing in better ways to do things and not concerned about delivering financial returns for big PE investors.
If any of you insurers, brokers or intemediaries are looking for a truly independent, award winning surveying and validation company that is aligned with the interests of your business and your customers, then get in touch.
European Transplant & Dialysis Games
MA Group Property Claims are proud sponsors of the European Transplant & Dialysis Games which are being held in Oxford 21st – 28th August 2022.
The European Transplant and Dialysis Games were first staged in Athens in 2000 and subsequently have been held in nine different European countries biannually. The European Games are coming to the UK for the first time in 2022 and we are delighted to be supporting these Games, helping transplant recipients and dialysis patients re-engage socially and providing an invaluable goal for 2022.
Paul Hayman, MA Group CEO, donated a kidney to his daughter Laura in June 2017. Since then MA Group has supported the Oxford Young Adult Clinic, a fantastic charity that supports young people, including Laura Hayman, with kidney failure. MA Group has raised over £45,000 for the charity through its annual golf day and dinner. So we are delighted that we can help more transplant and dialysis recipients by supporting the European Games – not only are we supporting the Games financially but Paul Hayman is a member of the panel helping to organise the Games.
The Games comprise a week of multi-sport competition amongst solid organ transplant recipients and kidney dialysis patients from over 25 countries across Europe. The event is similar to the Paralympics Games or Invictus Games and over 400 competitors are expected to attend in Oxford. There will be an Opening Ceremony at the historic Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford, preceded by a parade of athletes and a band through central Oxford on the afternoon of Sunday 21st August.
The event is a major opportunity to promote the huge benefits of organ donation and amazing life-saving impact of organ transplantation. The Games were officially launched on 9th December 2021 at Blenheim Palace.

MA Group MAD Awards
Our MADdest employee in November was Bryan Lee in our Aylesbury Control Centre.
Bryan received two excellent “shout outs” from client personnel. Bryan worked hard with our suppliers to ensure start dates were expedited on claims and took ownership to push claims forwards:
“I just wanted to personally thank you again for all your efforts regarding this claim. You took ownership of this and went above and beyond trying to resolve the policy holder’s dispute..”
Well done Bryan, you clearly made a significant difference for these policyholders.
Our MADdest employee in December was Phil Short, our Operational Performance Manager for Revival.
He has been applauded for his work ethic and ‘yes, no problem’ attitude. He responds immediately to service requests, and recently attended site on a Saturday morning to a complex fire claim that has a householder with dementia living in it.
Well done Phil, you are making a difference.
