June 2023 update

Fun in the sun

The summer has finally arrived and we made the most of it at our Charity Golf Day and Dinner on 8th June as the weather was perfect. There were a few red faces in the bar at the end of the day, but everyone clearly had a great time. Continue reading to find out how much we raised for charity this year.

Also this month we bring some staff news as we recognise a long serving member of staff and some brand new ones!

MA Group Charity Golf Day and Dinner

Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s Charity Golf Day and Dinner. The weather was amazing and a great time was had by all. We managed to raise £15,000 for the Oxford Young Adult Clinic, which is another fantastic achievement.

We are delighted that Dr Paul Harden and some of the young people supported by this charity were able to attend the day. The Oxford Young Adult Clinic is a unique community-based service set-up to help 16-30 year olds in the Thames Valley region who suffer from kidney failure. The objectives of the clinic are to reduce isolation, reduce denial and make life saving organ transplants last for many years.

A big thank you to the following sponsors:

Building Repair Solutions – sponsors of the pre-dinner drinks

Phoenix Property Maintenance – sponsors of the halfway house drinks

Safeline Environmental – sponsors of some of the golf prizes

Next year’s golf day will be held at The Oxfordshire again, on 6th June 2024 – so SAVE THE DATE!

Long service award

During the Golf Day Dinner we took the opportunity to recognise a member of staff who has worked for us for 20 years. Caroline Elmer, MA Group Finance Manager, started working for MA Assist on 9th June 2003 when it was still part of a spanish group, well before the MBO. Teresa Owen, MA Group Finance and Strategy Director,  presented her with a well-deserved award during the Charity Dinner.

Caroline has been a vital team member for the last two decades, helping us grow from a small company with a handful of staff in 2003 to the group of companies with 130 staff that we are now. She is always calm and focused and has coped admirably with all of the challenges we have thrown her way.

Congratulations Caroline.

New Non-Executive Director

We are excited to announce that Ruben Moggee has joined MA Group as a Non-Executive Strategy Director.

Ruben has extensive international business experience across several countries and industries and is a former partner of KPMG. Significantly, he has a great record in South Africa’s and Australia’s outsourced claims management sector, servicing numerous blue-chip insurance and related clients.

Between 2016 and 2023 Ruben was the Group CEO of the Digicall Group, an outsourced business process company and, supported by his team, he grew the business significantly until it employed over 5,500 employees across three countries, including a significant outsourced business in the UK servicing mainly utility and financial service sector clients.

Ruben also serves as a non-executive director for some property and related claims and fulfilment businesses in South Africa.

More training for Revival

We were delighted to see so many technicians from Revival UK and Revival Blue attending our latest training session in Aylesbury this week. Thank you to Steve Clinch and Matt Durbridge from Revival SW London for giving up their precious time to train more people on the intricacies of Trace and Access.

It was good to see TREVOR there too, making sure everyone was paying attention!

MA Group MAD awards

The winner of May’s MAD award was Justin Scargill, Supplier Performance Manager.

He recently covered for a lot of holidays and staff absences, taking control of the whole MA Assist supply chain.  He managed all seventy suppliers, dealt with any issues as they arose, responded to various incoming communications, kept on top of the complaints he owns and just generally did a great job of helping the team in our time of need.

Thank you Justin for everything you do for the team and the company.
