March 2025 update

Spring is here

With spring and summer well on their way, we have been planning MA Group Annual Charity Golf Day and the Revival Branch Meeting (details below). We are also continuing to develop our ESG credentials and find ways to deliver exceptional service and value for our clients.

ESG scores

We have now finished going through the exercise of updating our ESG scores for MA Assist and Revival on Hellios (a supplier pre-qualification system for insurers).

For MA Assist our scores are well above the averages for all other suppliers across all three categories:

MA Assist vs other suppliers ESG averages: environmental 79.66 v 32.61, social 87.50 v 68.37, governance 75.00 v 69.20

Overall, MA Assist’s average score for ESG is an impressive 79.3.

Revival’s ESG scores are also well above average compared to all other suppliers across all three categories – and the environmental score is particularly impressive:

Revival vs other suppliers ESG averages: environmental 90.42 v 35.77, social 89.66 v 63.78, governance 71.92 v 47.5

If you would like to find out more about our ESG strategy please read our ESG report on our website.

Saving more money for clients and CO2 for the planet

Collecting electricity usage figures for escape of water (EOW) and flood restoration claims has traditionally been a manual process prone to errors. For example, it’s difficult to adjust for normal household usage and for machines being switched off by customers. As a result, insurers often overpay their customers for electricity used during the drying process.

To drive costs down for clients, we have developed a much more accurate way of recording electricity usage:

  • Our Revival branches use our mobile app, Scoper, to hire and off-hire each piece of equipment that goes into customers’ homes.
  • This enables us to record accurate electricity usage figures for each piece of equipment on site.
  • Using the average UK cost of electricity (which is updated in Scoper every quarter) our calculations are much more accurate, saving clients’ money and providing specific information on the amount of CO2 used in a claim.

For our largest client, we analysed data to compare our method with the client’s manual spreadsheet process, and found that we could have reduced their electricity costs by 12.5% – that’s tens of thousands of pounds a year!

For greener, more cost-effective EOW and flood restoration claims, please get in touch.

Pregnancy Loss Pledge

MA Group has signed up to the Miscarriage Association’s Pregnancy Loss Pledge. This campaign urges employers to commit to supporting their staff, giving them the compassionate leave they need following pregnancy loss.

By taking the Pledge and meeting their standard, we agree to:

✔️ Encourage a supportive work environment where people feel able to discuss and disclose pregnancy and/or loss without fear of being discriminated against.
✔️ Understand and implement the rules around pregnancy-related leave, ensuring staff feel able to take the time off they need.
✔️ Show empathy and understanding towards people experiencing pregnancy loss.
✔️Implement a pregnancy loss policy or guidance, and ensure it is included in sickness, bereavement or other workplace policies – being mindful of partners’ needs too.
✔️ Encourage line managers to access in-house or external guidance on how to support someone dealing with pregnancy loss.
✔️ Support people back to work by being responsive to their needs and showing flexibility wherever possible.

If you’re interested in taking this pledge to better support your employees after a  miscarriage, sign up here.

If you can spare a donation of any size to help spur them on through the Peaks, and support this vital charity, please head to their JustGiving page.

Revival National Branch Meeting

Preparations are well underway for our annual Revival National Branch Meeting. All the Revival branches will come together with clients and suppliers for two days of knowledge sharing, exhibitions, awards, and a Gala Dinner!

We’re still finalising our list of suppliers who will be exhibiting on the day – watch this space!

The theme for this year’s NBM is “It’s a PEOPLE thing” and is based around building and maintaining productive relationships to help all our businesses grow.

It is taking place on 24th April at Hotel La Tour in Milton Keynes. Branch staff who would like to attend should email sally-ann.johnson@maassist.com no later than 27th March 2025.

MA Group Charity Golf Day and Dinner

The annual MA Group Charity Golf Day & Dinner returns for 2025.

Join us at The Oxfordshire Golf, Hotel and Spa on the 12th June for a great day of golf followed by a fantastic evening of delicious food and entertainment – not to mention our famous auction!

Once again we’re fundraising for our chosen charity – Oxford Young Adult Clinic – a vital  community-based service that supported our CEO @Paul Hayman – FCIOB, and his daughter Laura, to whom Paul donated his kidney in 2017.

Last year we raised £11,000 – so to all our suppliers and wider network, let’s make this year even better.

To sign up or learn more, please email Sally-Ann Johnson.

MA Group MAD Awards

Our February winner was Ayaaz Joossab, Claims Technician.

Ayaaz has received some excellent feedback from the closing team in relation to Ayaaz’s files. They have advised Ayaaz has always attempted or completed the QC call with the customer as soon as works are complete. Any issues, such as snagging or back and forth between the contractors and insurers, is always actively managed and the notes on the file are clear and concise so it is easy for everyone else to understand the present position on the file. If he is not sure he will reach out to the closing team to ask the question to ensure he gets the next steps right and they have advised how much easier it makes it for them when the file comes through to the closing team.

Well done Ayaaz, your vouchers are on their way to you!
