May 2024 update

Social responsibility

MA Group has always taken its social responsibilities seriously and we support our community and society in general wherever we can. We support charities that are close to our hearts and support fund-raising activities by our staff. Our annual Charity Golf Day and Dinner raises money for the Oxford Young Adult Clinic (the next one is 6th June) and we were proud sponsors of the European Transplant & Dialysis Games held in Oxford 21-28 August 2022. In addition, we will be supporting the British Transplant Games in 2025. But our staff do their bit too, and we bring an update on one of those community activities as well as information on our new Consumer Duty training for all suppliers, a Revival Select update and details of the new Scoper developments.

Revival Select at Hiscox

Revival has many years of experience in providing an outstanding service to our clients’ High Net Worth customers. Our Revival Select service is a differentiated service for those discerning customers that has been rolled out to our best performing licensees across the UK. So we were delighted that Hiscox hosted the Revival Select branches at their London Head Office on 2nd May.

Hiscox shared their core values and expections, explaining what makes Hiscox such a market leading High Net Worth insurer within the property insurance sector and what the Revival Select branches need to do to support Hiscox‘s values and service levels. The session was well received by both Hiscox and Revival Select licensees and reaffirms the strong relationship between the parties. Our thanks go to the Hiscox team who invested so much time and effort into this event, and to the licensees who attended.

Scoper upgrade

The next stage of our Scoper app upgrade is complete and will be rolled out across the networks over the next couple of weeks. This penultimate release includes a completely new design as well as:

The final stage of the Scoper improvements will be specific to Revival:

Consumer Duty training

It was Learning at Work Week recently, a unique annual event to build learning cultures at work. It aims to put a spotlight on the importance and benefits of continual learning and development. Learning at Work Week is led nationally by Campaign for Learning and employers are invited to mark Learning at Work Week in their organisations. We are very proud of our Know Your Skills | Grow Your Skills training and development programme here at MA Group. Since launching in October 2023, we’ve seen:

Our Know Your Skills | Grow Your Skills collateral has recently been increased to include mandatory training and testing for all suppliers on our networks to ensure they fully understand and adhere to the FCA’s Consumer Duty requirments. Our Virtus surveyors are the first to go through this training which requires them to complete a Consumer Duty training module and with a competency quiz at the end to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the standards and expectations of the FCA’s Consumer Duty.

Supporting our communities

At MA Group we are committed to making a positive contribution to our community and society in general. Not only do we try to support our local community but we also support charities that are close to our hearts and support fund-raising and community activities by our staff.

Our Finance and Strategy Director, Teresa Owen, has been mentoring Young Enterprise teams at Roundwood Park School for the past three years. Young Enterprise UK is a charity that aims to immerse college-age students in the world of business, supporting them to form and run companies. They then compete in area, regional and national competitions.

This year’s Roundwood Park School team, Aurora, has been hand-making and selling candles and recently won the North and East Hertfordshire area awards. Here’s what Teresa had to say about it:

They beat 17 other teams to win the title of ‘Best Overall Company’ to go through to the East of England regional finals on 14th May. Unfortunately they didn’t win the regionals, but just getting to this stage is an amazing achievement and has already taught them all sorts of important business skills.”

2024 Charity Golf Day and Dinner

We are looking forward to our next annual MA Group Charity Golf Day and Dinner on 6th June at The Oxfordshire Golf Club.

Our regular and committed golfer and comedian, Aaron James, will be hosting the event and we look forward to raising more funds for the Oxford Young Adult Clinic. The charity provides vital support to young people living with kidney failure by combating loneliness and isolation and facilitating life-saving transplants. We’re proud to be supporting such a deserving cause.

Sally-Ann Johnson will be sending out information to the attendees very soon.

MA Group MAD awards

Our monthly MAD award winner in March was Adam Tansley, MA Group Business Analyst.

A client raised a complex issue regarding a change in access issues for some of their team on a short time scale. The issue had legal ramifications which the client was clearly concerned about, but Adam had given a great deal of time and thought to the issue and was able to suggest three potential solutions, having considered all the “what ifs!”. Adam took time to fully understand all the factors and did not make assumptions. He was also realistic about what could be achieved in a short period of time.

We received the following feedback we received from our client “Wanted to say thank you for the level of thought you had clearly put into helping us understand how we might approach the impact of ring fencing xx 2 Specialist Teams

Well done Adam.
