May 2025 update
Summer is coming
We have officially experienced the driest spring for over 100 years, which is making us all feel like summer is already here. While the good weather has reduced claim levels in our industry it does mean we have plenty of time to plan for all the great events we are looking forward to this summer – here’s hoping the weather holds for the exciting events coming up including our Annual Golf Day and Dinner and the British Transplant Games.
The Cosmetic Repair Company is growing
You may remember that we successfully acquired The Cosmetic Repair Company (CRC) towards the end of last year, bringing a decade’s worth of cosmetic surface repair expertise to MA Group.
Since then we have been investing in CRC through:
- new systems – Reflex 360 and MA Group Sharepoint for managing the operation and training, and
- IT equipment – PCs and laptops as well as new phones and tablets so technicians can capture data and photos from site to demonstrate the quality and quantity of their work.
Now we have integrated another cosmetic repair business, Site Rite Repairs Ltd, into CRC, bringing more technicians and vans into the the group. Welcome to Kieron McGillick and David Morgan, pictured here with Reece Burke of CRC, and the rest of the SRR team to MA Group.

Site Rite Repairs has been rebranded as The Cosmetic Repair Company, with both teams retaining their commitment to providing the highest quality cosmetic and surface repair services across the UK to bring a broader range of services, increased resources and wider geographical spread.

New TLC commercial case study
We have recently published a new case study about a Technical, Large and Complex (TLC) commercial claim that we managed at a church in Nottingham.
The loss adjuster had already been let down by another disaster restoration company so we had to act quickly to give the customer and the loss adjuster confidence in our abilities to manage a commercial claim efficiently.
The church needed to maintain use of their main space for worship at the weekends. The TLC team and Revival Sheffield understood what was required and made it clear to the customer that we would be able to restore the church and that services could continue throughout the restoration.

Losses were mitigated and practical solutions were put into place. The winning combination of TLC’s project managent skills, Revival Sheffield’s technical skills and TREVOR’s predicitve skills made sure that this commercial claim was a textbook example of how to keep customers happy whilst also controlling costs.
The church staff were delighted that they didn’t have to relocate and stop their operations and services.
The loss adjuster commented that the speedy response and decisive claim response ownership was a breath of fresh air, and the following day he appointed us on an additional claim.

Supporting communities
Peak District Ultra Challenge
Haley Elsden, Sarah Proffitt and Katie Thane are continuing their training for the Peak District Ultra Challenge on 28th June. So far they have raised over £1,000 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, double their target, but please keep the donations coming in and let’s see if we can double it again. Young Enterprise scheme
Our Finance and Strategy Director, Teresa Owen, has been mentoring a Young Enterprise Scheme team again this year. This year’s team is called Food from the Roots, an amazing group of sixth form students from Roundwood Park School in Harpenden who have created a cultural cookbook that celebrates the ethnic diversity of their team and supports their local community and businesses. They have also developed a range of recipe cards for children. You can find out more about them on their website where you can also buy their products.
They have done incredibly well, winning multiple awards all year, and on 19th May they won the East of England final, earning themselves a place in the UK National finals in Manchester on June 4th.

We wish them all the best for the UK finals, our fingers are crossed!
MA Group Charity Golf Day and Dinner
The annual MA Group Charity Golf Day and Dinner returns for 2025.
Join us at The Oxfordshire Golf, Hotel and Spa on the 12th June for a great day of golf followed by a fantastic evening of delicious food and entertainment – not to mention our famous auction!
Once again we’re fundraising for our chosen charity – Oxford Young Adult Clinic – a vital community-based service that supported our CEO, Paul Hayman – FCIOB, and his daughter Laura, to whom Paul donated his kidney in 2017.
Last year we raised £11,000 – so to all our suppliers and wider network, let’s make this year even better.

MA Group MAD Awards
Our April winner was Fergus Walker-Kerr, Business Analyst in our Innovation team.
In order to onboard the new technicians from Site Rite Repairs their competency based skills needed to be urgently assessed. Fergus, alongside his pre-planned workload, made time to build the KYS | GYS competency grids into the CRC extranet site for all CRC current employees and the new technicians, and load all the KYS | GYS modules, prepare header pages and the mechanisms for filling in the grids. All of this work has enabled the Operations Director and Operations Manager to assess the technicians and begin to prepare a skills gap analysis for future training. Fergus had to re-prioritise his workload to accommodate this significant piece of work to ensure the project plan stayed on the critical path.
Well done Fergus.
